What We Do

A lone soldier discharged from the IDF begins civilian life without a parental home to fall back on, and often without the basic equipment studying requires. A laptop is the first practical condition for enrolling at an institution of higher education, submitting assignments and meeting course requirements.

The association distributes laptops to lone soldiers before and after their discharge from the IDF, so that they can begin studying. The laptop is handed to the soldier in person and is theirs to keep.

A lone soldier carries costs other soldiers never meet: rent, bills, food and clothing, all on a conscript's pay. When something goes wrong, there are no parents to turn to.

The association transfers financial grants directly to lone soldiers in need. Requests reach us through the welfare officers in the units, through social services, or directly from the soldier.

Most lone soldiers live in rented apartments, alone or with other lone soldiers. An apartment with no refrigerator, no washing machine and no bed is where many of them start.

The association provides appliances, electronic devices, furniture and clothing, as well as food baskets for soldiers in need. What is supplied is matched to what the apartment actually lacks.

At the initiative of the association, events have been produced for soldiers in field units serving on the line and near the training areas. A barbecue in the middle of a long stretch of training or reserve duty is a real break, not just a meal.

The association comes to the unit with the equipment and the food and runs the event on site. Over more than 20 years, Ron has initiated and produced dozens of events of this kind.
